In 1981 Wolfgang Mueller came to Redmond, WA from Germany looking for a property to start a nursery in the US. On the property we currently occupy, he found a run down beet farm (with goats living in the basement of the existing farm house). Despite its disrepair, he saw a promising future. He began a u-pick farm, growing several different kinds of fruiting trees and vines. Soon after, he changed directed and in 1986, Tissues and Liners was born.

Not long after Tissues and Liners opened for business, Susanne Foster came to manage the farm. From Germany, she brought plant knowledge and a desire to build the business into a premier tissue and liner provider. After building the first greenhouses on the property, Susanne began our love of container grown plants, by introducing grasses and clematis.

After several more years and Susanne's departure, Josef and Rita Singendonk came to manage the nursery, bringing their passion for heathers and quality German watering booms. Their dream was to mass produce heathers that would be sent all over the US. They added on fields and greenhouses to the existing property, while doing the cuttings work in the basement of the farmhouse.

Finally, in 1994, Andrej Suske joined Tissues and Liners as general manager. Recommended by Professor Fritz Moellman, an old friend, his mission became to grow the best container grown plants available. With this came an understanding that Tissues and Liners was no longer an appropriate name for the business and in 2000, T&L Nursery, Inc. was born.
